10.31.08 Countdown to WinterSolstice 12.21.08 7:04amEST
It is winter here. I know because I have had to put on my allweather jacket with hood. It is a lightweight jacket but oh so warm. I wear it even indoors. Everyone has a cold or sinus infection and I try to remind some subtley and politely of sneeze and coughing etiquette. My hands are cold and dry and my curly hair has gone flat due to lack of humidity. It is the time of year when you have to have chilli and onions for supper as soon as you get home and have to have oatmeal and raisins before you get out.
I can no longer wear the flip flops with socks and have had to pullout the fleece house clogs. Driving home has added challenge because the sun hits the traffic light just so that one cannot tell is that really green? Morning travel requires the visor down and even then it's hard to know where you're going because of that sun staring you right in the face. The purple mums are budding and the red geranium has already begged to come indoors. It is time to plan just where all those outdoor plants can rest indoors with adequate light and without cat chompers. The "cuddlyduds" have been found and some still fit to be worn underneath wool slacks, cotton sweaters and wool jackets that wish that the stores sold something other then polyester for accompanyment.
BUT THERE ARE ONLY 51 DAYS OR SO UNTIL THE SUN WILL RETURN. Holding on carefully, unsteady in the dark. Somewhat like holding the breath till swimming the length.
02 NOV 08 I've beenthinking of roseate spoonbills since Shore mentioned them. So, I went WU shopping and found this magnificent creature. A big Thank you to the photographer . Eyes wet in gratitude to be able to look upon one of the beauties of this earth.
